(Reuters) -Tanzanian police ordered a curfew in Dar es Salaam on Wednesday after violent protests marred an election that President Samia Suluhu Hassan is expected to win following the disqualification of the two leading opposition candidates.
Protests are spreading in Tanzania as electoral authorities count the votes in a disputed presidential election that rights groups, opposition figures and others say was clouded by a climate of fear in the months leading to election day.
Tanzania’s military said it’s been working with other security forces to quell unrest after protesters took to the streets over this week’s election that barred key opposition figures.
